Sequence:a sequence is an ordered collection of objects in which repetitions are allowed.
Terms of Sequence: a term in a sequence is any number in that sequence. Series: A series is, informally speaking, the sum of the terms of a sequence. Summation Notation: The summation sign, S, instructs us to sum the elements of a sequence. A typical element of the sequence which is being summed appears to the right of the summation sign. Sigma Notation: Mathematical notation uses a symbol that compactly represents summation of many Similar terms: the summation symbol, ∑, an enlarged form of the upright capital Greek letter Sigma. Common Difference:the sequence {3, 5, 7, 9, 11 ...} is made by adding 2 each time, and so has a "common difference" of 2 (there is a difference of 2 between each number) Arithmetic Series:
Geometric Sequence: is a sequence of numbers where each term after the first is found by multiplying the previous one by a fixed, non-zero number called the common ratio |
